Trong đêm tối bỗng vang lừng tiếng trống
Họ từng đòan lũ lượt kéo về đây
Lửa rực trời vạn đuốc sáng trên tay
Chốn bệ rồng nhà vua nghiêm sắc mặt
Gươm tuốt trần, sĩ tốt đứng hai bên
Nhóm quần thần đứng kính cẩn lặng im
Chờ mong đợi một lệnh truyền tối thượng
" Hỡi nhân dân, quân thù đang xâm lấn
Vượt biên thuỳ khí thế thật cuồng ngông
Chúng cướp thuyền, đảo, biển, núi cùng sông
Lê dân hỡi ta hoà hay nên đánh?
Thế xăm lăng giặc tràn sang rất mạnh
Cậy dân đông, nhiều vũ khí hung tàn
Xẻ biên thuỳ, hống hách vượt trường giang
Mang thuyền chiến dọc ngang bờ lãnh hải
Hỡi lê dân, không yên lòng trẫm hỏi
Trước xâm lăng ta nên chiến hay hoà?"
Lửa bập bùng, vang dội tiếng thét loa
"Quyết chiến" không đội trời chung cùng giặc
Giữa đám đông giương cờ, đao, dao, mác
Cùng gậy tre, với gươm giáo tự làm
Vũ khí thô sơ, mà dũng khí hiên ngang
Lòng bất khuất không hàng loài giặc mạnh
" Thế nước yếu, ta lấy chi mà đánh? "

"Quyết một lòng cứu hằng vạn sinh linh
"Qua tai ách răng nanh loài quỷ dữ

Nước tẩn lịm bao nấm mồ quỷ dữ
Hai trận Bạch Đằng, còn ghi trong sử
Hồn Mã Nhi còn hận giữa đáy sông
Vì Việt Nam đâu chỉ một Diên Hồng.
Mà có hào khí giống nòi dân Đại Việt
